Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Trailer Officially Outed

image

It’s official. The long awaited TPP trailer has been released into the wild. After being leaked yesterday (Monday) it was inevitable that Konami/Kojima would unveil it to the world. Check out the video below:

As Kojima promised, this new trailer would be filled with less action, though more emotion. He had expressed that it may have been even harder to watch than Ground Zeroes Red Band trailer where Paz has a surprise imbedded in her guts. Here’s a quick spread of some screen grabs:

image

Reminiscent of philosophical quotes that can be seen in the first Peace Walker trailer.

image

Comrades being cremated.

image

Instead of scattering their ashes to the sea…

image

Snake smears it on his face…

image

As a tribute to his Diamond Dogs. Like war paint.

image

Snake goes Nuclear!

image

Ocelot apparently training the DD crew.

image

New Mother Base perhaps.

image

Looks like an underground fight club on the base has started. Most likely for training purposes, as with the beginning cutscene in Peace Walker.

image

Ocelot wants the truth from Emmerich any way he can get it.

image

Eli (young Liquid?) apparently doesn’t like Snake. As his shirt says, “Never Be Game Over.”

image

Looks like we’ll finally get some knife play too.

image

Snake wants in on the fight club.

image

Like, for real.

image

But this guy doesn’t want to.

image

A shot of Quiet being tortured by other means.

image

Kaz looking in bad shape after the rescue.

image

Looks like Quiet isn’t in the mood. Foot stomp!

image

Ima gonna guess she has a knife in her hand.

image

Someone aims a laser sight at Snake.

image

Snake’s WTF face is pure awesome!

image

Looks like there’s a double agent in Diamond Dogs.

image

That’s not a knife. THIS is a knife!

image

Back to Snake descending into nuclear madness. Horn aplenty.

image

…!

image

TACTICAL ESPIONAGE OPERATIONS.

image

You can just feel the emotional toll on Snake’s face.

image

Those who don’t exist?

image

The events of 1975 are carried over.

image

A shot of a Metal Gear in the background?

image

Payback time.

image

Venom Snake…

image

Who is Snake standing next to?

image

It…Looks like… Skull Face! But why? He’s the one who orchestrated the events of Ground Zeroes and the fall of Mother Base…

image

A scuffle breaks out.

image

Snake breaks loose and…

image

This is the end result.

image

Indeed.

That was probably the most epic trailer for MGS. Hell, any game I’ve seen, period! I’ve watched this trailer countless times already but it’s not enough. Playing Ground Zeroes will be different now. I’ll be thinking about my Diamond Dogs and other motives to do these missions, and to insure the lives of my comrades. The Phantom Pain truly is shaping up to be the greatest game Kojima has ever created.
